Daphne Rubin-Vega, Christina Vidal Cast in NBC Drama Pilot THE CURSE OF THE FUENTES WOMEN

According to Deadline, two-time Tony nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega and Christina Vidal have been tapped to star in NBC's upcoming drama pilot from Warner Bros. THE CURSE OF THE FUENTES WOMEN.

The project, written by Silvio Horta, is described as:

"When a magical and mysterious young man (Adan Canto) inexplicably emerges from the ocean, he breathes new passion into the lives of the Fuentes women - the beautiful but lonely Lola (Vidal), her ailing mother Esperanza (Rachel Ticotin) and her troubled daughter Soledad (Katie Sarife). Lola has given up on love and dedicated herself to caring for her daughter Soledad, her mother Esperanza and their floundering family restaurant - until a mysterious stranger enters her life, opening up a world of possibilities."

Rubin-Vega will take on the role of "Remelda, a Santeria priestess who lives with and acts as an adviser to Orquidia, Esperanza's estranged sister."

A two-time Tony and Drama Desk nominee and recipient of the Theater World, Obie and Blockbuster awards, Daphne Rubin-Vega has been embraced by New York audiences for her many Broadway appearances, including Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire, Conchita in Anna in the Tropics, and her Tony-nominated creation of the role of Mimi in Rent. Onscreen, she has received acclaim as Lucy in Jack Goes Boating directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman, Tia in Flawless opposite Robert De Niro and, on the small screen, Agnes on the NBC hit series Smash. In her debut performance at The Hispanic Society of America, Rubin-Vega will share classic texts from The Hispanic Society's collection, including dramatic works by Lope de Vega (1562-1635), Francisco de Quevedo (1580-1645), Luis de Góngora (1561-1627), and Pedro Calderón de la Barca (1600-1681).
