Known for her comedic work in such shows as "Workaholics," "Desperate Housewives," and more, acclaimed actress Jennifer Lyons returns to television as sassy waitress Ruby Zwick in "Hitting the Breaks," the new sitcom premiering this month on Pure Flix.

"I'm very excited to be a part of this talented cast that makes up 'Hitting the Breaks,'" Lyons said. "Sitcom fans are going to love the interaction and comedy from this talented group of people, both, behind and in front of the camera."

Created by Tommy Blaze and David A.R. White, "Hitting the Breaks" tells the story of ex-racecar driver Randy Wilcox (played by White) who moves his wife (Andrea Logan White) and family from Atlanta to a small town in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado when he inherits The Serenity Inn, a struggling bed and breakfast previously owned by his parents.

The cast includes David A.R. White ("God's Not Dead"), Andrea Logan White ("Moms Night Out"), veteran screen superstar Burt Reynolds ("Boogie Nights"), who also narrates; Gianna Simone ("Star Trek Into Darkness"), Kevin Downes ("Woodlawn"), Gregg Binkley ("Raising Hope"), Taylor Autumn Bertman ("Peanuts"), Shanna Strong ("Welcome to Me"), Tyler Rhoads ("People in Motion") and Randall Reeder ("Deadpool").

"Jennifer is a showrunner's dream," said Darrell Vickers, staff writer and the series' showrunner. "Totally professional, totally talented and a total pleasure to work with. Her work with Reginald VelJohnson was truly inspired!"

Portraying the sassy Ruby, Lyons channels her innate comedic sensibilities showcased in a slew of films and television shows where her striking looks and comic timing were at the heart of her performances.

"Ruby is a bit of a princess and kind of a smart aleck who's not used to this small town or the uptight butler Chauncey," she said. "She tends to get on his nerve because she's used to getting away with whatever she can so it makes for a lot of very funny scenes. But Reggie - Reginald VelJohnson who portrays Chauncey - is an absolute doll and was so much fun to work with."

VelJohnson, best known for playing Carl Winslow on ABC's long-running sitcom "Family Matters," is just one of the familiar faces on the show. Among those appearing are Rob Schneider, ("Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo"), Morgan Fairchild ("Holy Man"), Julia Duffy ("Newhart"), Chris Coppola ("Beowulf") and professional football star Tim Tebow among others.

Born in Pasadena, Calif., Lyons is known for her long list of credits that include a number of television shows such as "NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service," "Monk," "The Starter Wife," "Malcolm in the Middle" and many others. Her films include "Scream at the Devil," "The Amazing Spider-Man," "Dorm Daze," the cult classic "Can't Hardly Wait," and more.
