DANCING WITH THE STARS Scores Closest Ratings Finish Ever With NBC's THE VOICE Premiere

From 8:00-10:00 p.m., ABC's season 27 premiere of "Dancing with the Stars" drew 8.1 million viewers and a 1.1/4 in Adults 18-49, marking the ABC unscripted series' closest finish ever among young adults to the season opener of NBC's "The Voice." Versus the year-ago night (9/25/17), "DWTS" trimmed its margin with "The Voice" premiere by 400,000 Total Viewers (-1.5 million vs. -1.9 million) and by 3-tenths of a rating point among Adults 18-49 (-0.9 rating points vs. -1.2 rating points). Last year's 1.2 rating point gap was previously its narrowest margin with "The Voice" opener, prior to last night's 0.9 rating point difference.

Building on its "Dancing" lead-in among young adults at 10:00 p.m., ABC's "The Good Doctor" earned 2nd place in the hour to NBC's debut of "Manifest," beating CBS' season premiere of "Bull" by 7% in Total Viewers (7.8 million vs. 7.3 million) and by 56% in Adults 18-49 (1.4/6 vs. 0.9/4). 2017-18 Top Drama in Delayed Viewing: Setting records in its debut 2017-18 season, "The Good Doctor" delivered the biggest playback lifts for any drama on TV, growing its Live + Same Day tally by +5.2 million viewers in Live + 3 Day and by +6.9 million viewers in Live + 7 Day. Among Adults 18-49, the ABC drama posted a +1.8 rating point gain (+100%) from L+SD to L+7.
