Deadline reports that director George Clooney is assembling an all-star cast for his upcoming WWII drama THE MONUMENTS MEN from Sony Pictures and 20th Century Fox. The actor will lead a cast which will feature Daniel Craig, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, The Artist's Jean Dujardin, Argo's John Goodman, Hugh Bonneville and Bob Balaban.

Clooney and Grant Heslov co-wrote the script for the drama which follows "the final chapter of Germany's rule." The piece will show " the absolute destruction of everything that makes a culture keep its standing, including the lives that are lost and the sacrifices that are made. All of this is in danger of being lost forever as Hitler and the Nazis try to cover the tracks of a murderous regime. A crew of art historians and museum curators unite to recover renown works of art that were stolen by Nazis before Hitler destroys them."

Production on the project is set to begin on March 1 in Europe. The film will feature a score composed by Alexander Desplat and will employ the same crew who worked on Argo, which Clooney and Heslov produced and Desplat scored.
