Chiwetel Ejiofor Cast in Brad Pitt's 'Twelve Years a Slave' Film

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chiwetel Ejiofor has been cast in the upcoming film 'Twelve Years a Slave.'

Elijofor is a British stage, film, and television actor. He's appeared onstage in productions of MACBETH, BLUE/ORANGE, ROMEO & JULIET, PEER GYNT, THE SEAGULL, and OTHELLO. His film credits include "2012," "American Gangster," "Endgame," and "Tonight at Noon."

Brad Pitt will produce the film, which is based on Solomon Northup's 1853 autobiography of the same namE. Northup was kidnapped in New York and forced into slavery for years, eventually managing to take the matter to court and winning back his freedom.

Elijofor, who won an Olivier Award for his portrayal of Othello, will play Northup; no further casting or release date has been announced.
