It has been confirmed that country singer and former American Idol champ will be making her acting debut in March when she guest stars on How I Met Your Mother.

In the episode, Underwood will play Tiffany, a pharmaceutical rep who becomes a love interest for Ted, played by Josh Radnor. The episode will air sometime in March.

How I Met Your Mother is a comedy about Ted (Josh Radnor) and how he fell in love. It all started when Ted's best friend, Marshall (Jason Segel), dropped the bombshell that he was going to propose to his longtime girlfriend, Lily (Alyson Hannigan), a kindergarten teacher. At that moment, Ted realized that he had better get a move on if he, too, hopes to find true love. Helping him in his quest is his friend Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), a confirmed bachelor with endless, sometimes outrageous opinions, a penchant for suits and a foolproof way to meet women. When Ted meets Robin (Cobie Smulders), he's sure it's love at first sight, but destiny has something else in store. The series is narrated through flashbacks from the future. The show broadcasts at 8pm EST on Mondays on CBS.  How I Met Your Mother, celebrated the broadcast of its 100th episode on Monday night.

One of country music's most prolific and versatile power vocalists, Carrie Underwood is a four-time GRAMMY winner, ACM Entertainer of the Year, a three-time CMA and three-time reigning ACM Female Vocalist winner, and a member of the Grand Ole Opry with total album sales now in excess of 11 million. Underwood recently launched her third album, Play On, at the No. 1 spot on both the country and pop album sales charts and has sold over 700,000 copies in 5 weeks. The release earned the highest first-week sales of the year for any solo country artist at that point and makes Carrie the only country act in Nielsen SoundScan history to achieve first-week sales of more than 300,000 units on each of their first three albums. The feat also extends to American Idol, where the Season Four winner is the first contestant to launch three albums in a row above the 300K threshold, with her 2005 debut, "Some Hearts," now seven-times Platinum, and 2007's Carnival Ride currently triple-Platinum.
