CBS News' FACE THE NATION kicked off the 2016-2017 broadcast season as America's #1 Sunday morning public affairs program in viewers, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Sept. 25. FACE THE NATION delivered 3.18 million viewers and 0.7/03 in adults 25-54 (up +17%, from 0.6/03 last year). FACE THE NATION's second half-hour was broadcast contiguously across 58.7% of the CBS affiliates.

The Sept. 25 broadcast opened with an update on the protests in Charlotte, N.C., before moving to interviews with both of the vice presidential candidates, Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) and Gov. Mike Pence (R-IN). Dickerson then spoke with House Speaker Paul Ryan and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). Next CBS News elections director Anthony Salvanto discussed new CBS News battleground tracker polls in Virginia, Colorado and Missouri. CBS political contributor and former FACE THE NATION host Bob Schieffer talked about his experiences moderating three presidential debates, and the political roundtable featured USA Today's Susan Page and Washington Post's Ed O'Keefe.

Mary Hager is the executive producer of the Emmy award-winning FACE THE NATION, one of the longest-running news programs in the history of television.
