Broadway's Peter Gallagher Boards Fox Pilot DETOUR

Peter Gallagher, currently starring opposite Kristin Chenoweth on Broadway in ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY, has signed on for a new small screen project.

According to Deadline, the Tony nominee has joined Fox's upcoming comedy pilot DETOUR from PSYCH's Steve Franks. Olivia Thirlby has also been added to the cast, lead by Ben Aldrige.

DETOUR is "[i]nspired by the real-life story of Weezer lead singer Rivers Cuomo," and "centers on Michael Sturges (Aldridge), a charming rock star who made the unexpected choice at age 30 to quit his band and go back to college. Gallagher plays the notorious Professor Zaring, while Thirlby plays Gabrielle, his confident teaching assistant."

Gallagher's Broadway credits include The Real Thing (Clarence Derwent Award) and The Country Girl directed by Mike Nichols, Guys and Dolls (Drama Desk nomination), Long Day's Journey Into Night (Tony Award nomination), Noises Off, The Corn Is Green (Theatre World Award), Comden and Green's A Doll's Life directed by Hal Prince, Grease (original production), Hair.
