After a week off, we are back and jumping right into the middle of the campaigns for President. Because in real life, there is just NO where to find coverage of such events. Sigh.

Fitz, for lack of a better phrase, is off the rails. He has lady guests over nightly. (Guess his brief affair with reporter, Lillian Forrester, was just that.) As Abby and Secret Service Agent, Sam, work to cover up these "transgressions," Mellie asks Liv what her next move should be regarding Susan Ross. Liv advises Mellie to not get Fitz' endorsement, but just to persuade him to not endorse Susan Ross. When Mellie pays Fitz a visit to have such a talk, she is appalled to find one of his visitors there when she was about to drop off their son. One particular bed buddy of Fitz, a reporter, asks him to comment on the rumors that Olivia is running Mellie's campaign.

Olivia is distracted by tailing Jake and his new girlfriend trying to figure out what he's up to. Jake, as the head of the NSA, naturally knows she is tailing him. He tries seducing her one last time, but is rejected, finally.

Over at P&A, they are brought in on a new case. Turns out, some secret service agents are up to no good as there is a dead hooker in their hotel room. They claim she fell and hit her head, but Marcus decides to pursue it further. Liv is skeptical of accusing her clients instead of helping them, but agrees to the investigation. They discover the Agents refused to pay the girl leading to her falling and hit her head. They subsequently pumped her with heroin so it could look like she OD'd.

David Rosen is still being disgusting and scheming to handle Susan (in many ways) per Liz's instructions. Susan doesn't want the President's endorsement as he doesn't have the best approval rating as of late. She finally decides to go on Sally's Liberty Report to denounce Governor Vargas' Education Plan, even though she agrees with it.

Cyrus is still pressing Vargas to run for President, but on the Liberty Report, he states a firm "no" that he will not run. Cyrus puts Tom on the case, who discovers that Vargas has a five year old daughter who is dying of cancer. Cyrus bonds with Vargas and appeals to him on a human level. The Governor decides to run and asks Cyrus to run his campaign.

Liv finally goes to see Fitz about the Secret Service agents and winds up blaming him for their behavior as they are taking their cues from him. She tears him down as only she can. He decides to make a change to try and be not only a better President, but a better man. He tells Susan he knows she supports Vargas' education plan and she shouldn't lie to the American people. And when he earns her trust again, he will formally endorse her. He holds a press conference announcing the indictments of the Secret Service Agents.

Liv pays a visit to Papa Pope as she is determined to find out what they are all up to. She finds Jake there with his girlfriend, Vanessa. Papa gives Liv a glass of champagne and asks her to join him in toasting Jake and Vanessa's engagement.

First, even though Jeff Perry is an amazing actor, did anyone buy that story for one second? I knew he was way too diabolical to actually be that honest. And Michael? While nice to see he still exists... um, is he a little crazy? Was he braiding a doll's hair? Like... what?

Second, I wish I could say I cared about Liv and Fitz, I just don't. Great scene, well acted, but I just don't care. There are many more interesting things going on. I'm glad she ripped him a new one, sure, but we just need time to get over the whole first half of the season. And I think Huck is right, she is definitely obsessed with Jake and figuring out what he's up to. And what is he up to? Getting married to a normal girl? I mean, I get why Liv is suspicious.

Lastly, David Rosen, stop disappointing me. Our dear, sweet, Susan is going to get her heart ripped out and we're going to hate you forever. It's always the nice guys you have to worry about, isn't it? At least with the jerks, you know what you're in for.
