We did it everyone! We survived the eleventh season of GREY'S ANATOMY, and most of us remained relatively unscathed. This, of course, does not include the thousands of supporters of the insane "raise McDreamy from the dead" campaign. If it helps at all, I heard on the radio* this morning that Patrick Dempsey was fired for having an extramarital affair with a cast mate. He must've taken his character a little too seriously; much like many of the fans. Let him go. Full disclosure: I'm still not over T.R. Knight's departure. #Hypocrite.

The finale picks up where we left off last week: broken homes, broken people, and broken necks.

The no longer-pregnant woman (her name was Joan!) was wheeled around the hospital very gingerly for fear of exacerbating her neck trauma. Her boyfriend, Keith, had made it to the hospital, but was still trapped inside of his mashed up car. April Kepner stood atop the wreckage like she'd just reached the Everest of Nissans. Keith was impaled by the piece of a door, because being stuck inside of a car is never enough drama for ABC.

Bailey was proud of the Kepner 2.0 that the United States Army had created.

A crowd had gathered for watch the noisy attempt to free Keith from the depths of his car. Catherine was lecturing Richard in the middle of the distracted mob. She was still pretty pissed about his going against her orders regarding a risky procedure. Sparks were flying, saws were buzzing, and it all ceased just about the time when Richard snapped that she never asked him anything, and that the conversation was over. Catherine dramatically pulled off her engagement ring and stormed off, because that's how engagements should end.

Richard abruptly told Bailey that she would be the next Chief of Surgery. She seemed mostly stunned, but kind of grateful, I think.

Dammit Meredith. Let me be on your side for more than three seconds. Alex mentioned that Jo wasn't speaking to him since he wigged out on her "Let's join the Army!" suggestion. Meredith asked if she was moving out, because then Amelia could move into his house when Meredith and the kids did. Remember when the conversation took a brief hiatus from being about her? How much is housing in Seattle? Can these people not afford their own homes?

There was much tension when one of the interns couldn't manage to keep an elevator door open.

During a commercial break, a Latuda medication ad came on that warned that it could kill you if you took it with or without grapefruit juice. Maybe that'll pop up in season TWELVE of Grey's.

Meredith found out that I was raging about her being self-involved again, so she showed me. She told Catherine and Richard that they could both be dead - LIKE HER HUSBAND AND HER DREAMS OF HAPPINESS - but they weren't, so they should work out their drama and be together.

April told Jackson that she wanted to go back into the field. Jackson, the world's most understanding husband, told her to follow her bliss. The hugged and I was all, "WTF?", but then he pulled a Meredith and showed me, too. He wasn't going to just sit around Seattle waiting for her return. They BOTH lost a baby. The last year had been rough and he had to grieve alone. He loved her, but he was done. April seemed shocked, because she's delusional.

Keith lived, by the way. He and Joan were reunited, and happy gazes were exchanged.

Richard and Catherine got married in fancy clothes. Anyone who was anyone was at the reception. Richard told Bailey that she had to compete with someone for the Chief position, but she didn't freak out. She's Bailey; strong, confident, and Chief of Surgery material. Hopefully there are more Bailey-centric episodes to come.

Jo put in an offer on a drug den for her and Alex. She told him to sell his house back to Meredith, so they could have a place of their own, no matter how sketchy. She also told him that she loved him, which was apparently the first time.

April wept over her broken marriage and it was beautiful. Cry on, Other Ginger Doc.

The writers threw Derek back in our faces via voicemail and flashback. Amelia listened to it with Owen. She took his hand as she cried.

Maggie cried a million times throughout the episodes because her parents were getting a divorce. Her mom had been having an eleven year affair with her mechanic. Who cares?

Meredith Grey proclaimed herself as the face of survival. Sort of.

There were too many sad faces, and much too much crying. "We have to dance it out," said Meredith.
Someone replied, "What does that mean?" Ugh.

YANG!

In the end, we learned that "what's hurt can be healed" and that "the sun's gonna rise again." I hope this speaks for the series as a whole. These last two episodes have been strong. I don't know what changed in Shondaland, but it's giving me pleasant feeling.

How did you feel about tonight's finale? Will you return for another round in the Fall? Will the new interns stick around and become pertinent? When will Zombie Derek arrive? Will there be a crossover episode with The Walking Dead? Let us know in the comments below.

See you next season!

*The radio program said they got that bit of gossip from US Weekly. Neither should be taken as gospel. Patrick & possible mistress, please don't hate me.
