BACHELOR Host Chris Harrison Fulfilling Dream as SportsCenter Guest Anchor

Millions of television viewers watch Chris Harrison host ABC's popular series The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, BACHELOR IN PARADISE and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire but it's not well-known that Harrison started his broadcasting career covering sports. Harrison's career will come full circle on Thursday, Sept. 7, when he returns to his sports roots and fulfills a wish he's had for many years by joining ESPN's SportsCenter:AM as a special guest anchor. Regular anchors Sage Steele, Jay Harris and Randy Scott will welcome Harrison to the set for multiple segments during the 7-10 a.m. ET program.

Harrison and Steele, who will work together on ABC's telecast of the 2018 MISS AMERICA Competition on Sept. 10, are friends and have talked about Harrison's love of sports for the past two years. Harrison revealed his interest in visiting ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn., to Steele as well as his desire to appear on SPORTSCENTER and Steele set the wheels in motion.

"So excited to get back to my sportscasting roots and join my good friend and MISS AMERICA co-host Sage Steele on SportsCenter," said Harrison.

Harrison, who attended Oklahoma City University on a soccer scholarship, first worked in television covering local sports in Oklahoma City, and after college he made the transition to sportscasting with a local station. He eventually moved to Los Angeles and in 2001 became host of The Bachelor.

SportsCenter:AM was launched Feb. 8, 2016, with 7 a.m. ET marking the earliest start ever for a live edition of SPORTSCENTER on a regular basis and debuting a new format designed to inform sports fans as they go about their busy early morning routine. It re-launched August 28 with Steele returning to regular SPORTSCENTER anchoring and with new regular segments, new graphics and a revised set while continuing the mission of serving early-morning viewers.
