Award-Winning Director Jonathan Eagan's Sophomore Short RAKE, Now Ready for the Film Circuit

Editor-turned award-winning short film director, Jonathan Eagan (Workin' Moms, Letterkenny, What Would Sal Do), and Tania Thompson (The Lockpicker, Love Bent, Bitches Love Brunch) are pleased to announce that their short film, Rake, starring an ensemble cast which includes newcomers Sam Davey, Andrew Cox, Devon Hauth (Mimicry), and Madi Violet GRAVES (Meet Ronald, Famous Feuds), has completed post-production and is ready to start the festival circuit. Rake, a drama told over one summer night in Toronto, is the second short film from Eagan, who also wrote the screenplay, and is made under his banner, 463 Films, in partnership with Thompson's company, Refinery. Eagan and Thompson serve as producers.

Rake follows Tom (Davey), a thoughtful teenager who longs for acceptance, as he is goaded into committing an act of vandalism by the vindictive older brother (Cox) of his best friend. When caught, he finds himself in an altercation that ends violently, forever changing him and his relationship with his friends in ways they never imagined.

"Rake was born out of the idea of what happens when the perceived STAKES of teenage life come into direct conflict with those of the real world. When a character is forced out of their element, cornered and forced into a difficult choice, how would they react and what might the lasting consequences of that decision be? When we set out to make this film, we worked hard to find young people who were age-appropriate for their respective roles while also having relatively little acting experience. In the end, we were tremendously lucky to find an amazing cast that succeeded in lending the film a true sense of authenticity," said Director Jonathan Eagan

Cinematography by Nick Haight (Run This Town, Eros, Mariner), costume design by Kristin Somborac (The Cuban) and editing by Jonathan Eagan with additional editing by Simone Smith (Never Steady, Never Still).
