Artist Georgia O'Keeffee Featured on Next Edition of METROFOCUS
A new edition of the award-winning series MetroFocus -- premiering in the New York metro area Wednesday, September 11 at 7:30 p.m. on WLIW21 and Thursday, September 12 at 8:30 p.m. on THIRTEEN and at 10:30 p.m. on NJTV -- features:
The next edition features a wrap up and analysis of round one in the New York City race for mayor. Political reporters and editors from The New York Times, City & State and City Limits join host Rafael Pi Roman to discuss the primary vote and what's next. On the twelfth anniversary of 9-11, the PBS program NOVA takes us inside the new 104-story tower at the World Trade Center site and the adjoining 9-11 museum, in an excerpt from the new documentary Ground Zero Supertower. Since 2001, New York City's architecture and development changed dramatically during Mayor Bloomberg's three terms in office. Pi Roman talks with New York Magazine architecture critic and Pulitzer prize-winner Justin Davidson about the city's landscape "after Bloomberg." The summer season at Lake George is winding down, but there is one more weekend to see the exhibit Modern Nature: Georgia O'Keeffe and Lake George at The Hyde Collection in Glens Falls, NY. If you can't make it, Mountain Lake PBS reporter Thom Hallock shows you the first-of-its-kind exhibit. This month also marks the debut of the PBS landmark documentary series Latino Americans starting September 17. In an excerpt and extra from a companion program, Latino Americans of NY & NJ, set to air on Thirteen immediately after the national program on September 17, we meet the Serrano sisters, boxers from Bushwick, and their coach. And can one person draw all the buildings in New York? We have a whimsical look at a young artist and author who sees more than bricks and mortar as he draws his way through the boroughs.Website: thirteen.org/MetroFocus
