TVGuide.com reports that Ann Curry may be heading to the CNN network to take on a "high-profile anchor position". The newswoman, who was recently fired from her post at the Today Show, has reportedly asked NBC executives to release her from her contract. Should Curry switch to the cable network, she would join former NBC head and Today show executive producer Jeff Zucker, who is set to become president of CNN next month.

A source told Radar.com, "Ann wants out of her contract, big time. She has formally asked her attorney to explore exit options from the network. However, NBC bosses have indicated they are unwilling to release Ann from the contract."

Radar also reports that the anchorwoman's current contract with NBC contains a non-compete clause, which would prevent her from working at competing news stations for two years if she were to quit her post at the Peacock network. However attorneys for Curry believe that since NBC violated the terms of the agreement by firing her as host of Today last summer, the clause should no longer apply.

The New York Post had reported last month that Zucker had his eye on Curry to take over the 8 p.m. timeslot on CNN currently filled by Anderson Cooper.
