Private Practice star Amy Brenneman will play Justin Theroux's wife in HBO's THE LEFTOVERS, according to The Hollywood reporter. The pilot is directed by Peter Berg and penned by Damon Lindelof for HBO. Also co-starring are Tony nominee Carrie Coon, Doctor Who's Christopher Eccleston, Ann Down and Amanda Warren.

The drama pilot is co-written by Lindelof and Tom Perrotta and is based on Perrotta's book of the same title, which follows a group of people left behind after the Rapture.

Theroux will play Kevin Garvey, a police chief and father of two, and Brenneman will play Laurie Garvey, who has left her husband and children to join a mysterious cult. Tyler is set to play Meg, a woman drawn to a cult while looking for an escape from her impending marriage. Coon will play Nora, a wife and mother who is suddenly neither.

Boardwalk Empire's Emily Meade has also been cast as Amy, a high school student, and The Carrie Diaries' Jake Robinson will play a recurring role as a popular high schooler.

This will be Brenneman's first project since Private Practice's finale this winter. Her other small screen credits include Judging Amy, Frasier and NYPD Blue. Brenneman appeared off-Broadway last year in Rapture, Blister, Burn.
