Amazon Orders DAISY JONES & THE SIX Limited Series Produced by Reese Witherspoon

According to Variety, Amazon has ordered a limited series based on Taylor Jenkins Reid's novel "Daisy Jones & The Six."

The 13-episode series will be a co-production between Amazon Studios and Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine banner. Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, the Oscar-nominated screenwriters of "The Disaster Artist," will pen the script and serve as executive producers. Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter will executive produce for Hello Sunshine along with Brad Mendelsohn for Circle of Confusion. Reid will serve as producer.

"Daisy Jones & The Six" centers on a fictional rock band in the 1970s, following their RISE through the ranks of the LA music scene and beyond, eventually becoming one of the most legendary bands in the world. Original music from the series will be made available exclusively through Amazon Music, and the print and audiobook from Ballantine / Random House will also be available via Amazon.Com and Audible.com.

"When I heard Hello Sunshine was developing 'Daisy Jones & The Six,' I tracked down a copy right away and devoured it in one sitting," said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios. "I loved it so much I had to take it off the market and bring it to Amazon Studios. I was immediately struck by how perfectly it fit into our overall approach of bringing passionate creators and entertaining, compelling content to our Prime Video audience. Reese, Lauren and I are kindred spirits!"

Hello Sunshine is an American media company founded by American actress Reese Witherspoon and Strand Equity founder/director Seth Rodsky in 2016. Pacific Standard, the production company Witherspoon co-founded with Bruna Papandrea in 2012, now serves as a subsidiary for Hello Sunshine. On July 10, 2018, its co-owner AT&T through its AT&T Communications subsidiary announced the launch of an Hello Sunshine branded cable and satellite television channel Hello Sunshine Channel focused on women similar to OWN.

Witherspoon's breakthrough as Elle Woods in the 2001 comedy, Legally Blonde (2001) was a box-office smash and established Reese as one of the top female draws in Hollywood. The next year, she scored a follow-up hit with Sweet Home Alabama(2002), which went on to gross over $100 million dollars at the box office. In 2006, she took home the best actress Oscar for her role as June Carter Cash in the Johnny Cashbiopic, Walk the Line (2005). In the late 2000s and early 2010s, Reese continued to star in more romantic comedies, such as Four Christmases (2008) and How Do You Know(2010). In December 2010, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In the year 2014, she produced both Gone Girl (2014) and Wild (2014), for which she got nominated for best actress Oscar again for her role as Cheryl Strayed. Recently Witherspoon has been seen in the HBO series Big Little Lies, A Wrinkle in Time, and Wild. The actress owns Hello Sunshine production company and a fashion line, Draper James.
