Amanda Seyfried, who will next be seen in Summit Entertainment's 'Letters to Juliet' is slated to be honored at ShoWest with the breakthrough female star of the year award.

ShoWest managing director Robert Sunshine said, "The diversity in the characters Seyfried has portrayed and the strength of her performances -- from the airhead in 'Mean Girls' to the singing dreamer in 'Mamma Mia!' -- have quickly made her a hot young film actress in recent years."

Seyfried will receive her award at a ShoWest gala on Thursday, March 18. 'Letters to Juliet' was scheduled to screen at the ShoWest conference on today, Tuesday, March 16.

Seyfried is best known for portraying the role of Sophie in the maga-hit movie adaptation of MAMMA MIA!  She is also known for playing the role of ditzy Karen Smith in Mean Girls, in addition to appearances in Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves, Alpha Dog, American Gun and Nine Lives. Her TV credits include "Veronica Mars," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," and "Big Love," on which she plays Sarah Henrickson.
