Alabama Senator-Elect Doug Jones To Appear on Today 12/21 Telecast of LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS

Newly elected Alabama Sen. Doug Jones will be a guest on the Thursday, Dec. 21 telecast of "Late Night with Seth Meyers," marking his first appearance on late night.

Jones, a Democrat, upset Republican Roy Moore in a contentious special election to fill the seat of Jeff Sessions, who left the Senate to become U.S. Attorney General. Jones is the first Democratic senator from Alabama in 25 years.

"Late Night" continues to be a critical favorite, with the Los Angeles Times saying Meyers is "one of the strongest voices" on television and that the show has become "a much buzzier affair." Variety added, "Not an evening goes by without 'Late Night With Seth Meyers' offering sharp and funny criticism ..."

So far this season, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" is averaging a 0.40 rating in adults 18-49 and 1.558 million viewers overall in "most current" ratings from Nielsen Media Research. "Late Night" wins head to head versus its ABC and CBS time-period competition in every key ratings category - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers.

Meyers is set to host NBC's telecast of the "75th Annual Golden Globe Awards" on Sunday, Jan. 7. The three-hour show will air live coast to coast from 8-11 p.m. ET/5-8 p.m. PT.

From Universal Television and Broadway Video, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" is executive produced by Lorne Michaels ("The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," "Saturday Night Live") and produced by Mike Shoemaker ("Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," "Saturday Night Live").
