AT&T SHAPE Reveals First Round of Speakers Including Elizabeth Banks, Mayim Bialik & More

AT&T* SHAPE, an immersive event exploring the convergence of technology and entertainment, announced multi-hyphenate actressesElizabeth Banks, Mayim Bialik, Geena Davis and more as first speakers of the Los Angeles-based event.

Banks, whose panel will be held Sunday, June 23, will discuss her journey from actress to director and detail her experience in the industry. Moderator for Banks' panel will be announced at a later date.

Bialik and Davis will be joined by Dr. Erin Macdonald, an astrophysicist whose real-life inspiration for working in the male-dominated field of sciences proves "The Scully Effect" is real. The all-female panel will discuss the study and results of "The Scully Effect," a theory, now proven by the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, that a character portrayed on television would have a real-life effect on women in sciences -demonstrating that gender parity in media can result in social change.

In its fourth year, AT&T SHAPE will explore 5G and the future of entertainment through interactive exhibits and thought-provoking speakers. It will be held June 22-23 at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, CA. Last year, the sold-out event featured such visionary speakers as Ava DuVernay, Issa Rae, Sean Combs, and many more.

Also on the list of speakers is acclaimed filmmaker Karen Palmer who will discuss her use of artificial intelligence in creating RIOT, an emotionally responsive film, which uses facial recognition and AI technology to navigate through a dangerous riot.

As one of the most popular and exciting panels of the event, AT&T SHAPE will once again bring back the AT&T Film Awards.

Now in its 6th edition, the AT&T Film Awards recognizes aspiring creators who are shaping the future of entertainment through innovative and immersive filmmaking while sharing unique stories. Finalists will be invited to attend SHAPE, where we'll screen the top-rated films, hear from an A-list director about their own filmmaking journey and find out who will be taking home $60,000 in prizes.

Submissions will be accepted through May 5, 2019, and there is no cost to enter. This year's mentor for the AT&T Film Awards will be announced at a later date.

Additional speakers, exhibitors and demos featuring the magic of virtual and augmented reality and the power and speed of 5G will continue to be announced in the coming months.
