Premiering on September 28, ADVENTURES IN NEW AMERICA is the first sci-fi, Afrofuturistic, political-satire buddy comedy, serialized for New Americans in a new and desperate time. The podcast follows the escapades of two mismatched African American best friends: a depressed man with cancer and a sociopathic criminal mastermind. Together, they embark on a supernatural Afrofuturistic adventure in a desperate attempt to survive the wilds of New New York.

Created and written by artist and filmmaker Stephen Winter (Jason and Shirley) and his longtime collaborator Tristan Cowen, the first season of ADVENTURES IN NEW AMERICA follows IA (Winter) - a fat, lonely, middle-aged curmudgeon who gets diagnosed with a terminal illness then fired for a pre-existing condition, and Simon Carr (Paige Gilbert) - a young, brash, trickster-sneak-thief and "sociable sociopath" who never takes no for an answer. IA and Simon take on a series of increasingly wild heists to get quick cash to pay for IA's medical treatment... then get ensnared in a secret cabal of tetchy terrorist vampire zombies from outer space who want to take over the world. Helping and hindering IA and Simon's progress are their respective love interests: Serena (Pernell Walker, The Deuce) - the escaped tempestuous royal daughter of a radical black separatist, who has turned to a life of crime to pay for her education - and Gertrude (Starlee Kine, Mystery Show) - a gorgeous and dryly-droll Jewish woman of uncertain age and origin, with a risky agenda of self-preservation all her own.

A production of Night Vale Presents, ADVENTURES IN NEW AMERICA is equal parts inspired by the celestial teachings of Sun Ra, Sanford and Son, the poetic fiction of Octavia Butler and the UNDERGROUND comic Cerebus the Aardvark. Translation: a veritable stew of stark horror, kitchen-sink melodrama, slamming door sex comedy and phantasmagoric Afrodiasporic fantasy. There will be musical numbers - and radical reflections on our dangerous, beautiful and heart-pounding world.

Stephen Winter and Tristan Cowen have been brothers and collaborators for 15 years and are equal parts Jamaican, Czech, Jewish, French and Cajun, but Stephen always marks "black" on the census, cuz, as many ADVENTURES IN NEW AMERICA characters comment, "you are what cops think you are."

ADVENTURES IN NEW AMERICA will be available for free on Apple Podcasts, RadioPublic, and wherever listeners can access podcasts. Listeners can find more information at adventuresinnewamerica.com and nightvalepresents.com.
