ABC News Announces Coverage of President Donald Trump's Prime-Time Address and the Democratic Response

ABC News announced coverage of President Donald Trump's prime-time address on the government shutdown and the Democrats' response by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer airing Tuesday, Jan. 8, beginning at 9:00 p.m. EST on The ABC Television Network.


Chief anchor George Stephanopoulos will lead coverage from New York with reporting by chief White House correspondent Jonathan Karl and senior White House correspondent Cecilia Vega from the White House, senior congressional correspondent Mary Bruce from the Hill and chief national correspondent Matt Gutman from Texas at the border with Mexico.

"World News Tonight" anchor David Muir will anchor a special live West Coast edition of "World News Tonight with David Muir" after the speech at approximately 9:30 p.m. EST.

ABC News will provide comprehensive coverage and analysis on ABCNews.com, FiveThirtyEight.com and GoodMorningAmerica.com. ABC News Live - the network's 24/7 breaking news and live events streaming channel - will have special coverage beginning at 9:00 p.m. EST on Roku, Hulu, AppleTV, Amazon Fire TV, YouTube, Apple News, Facebook, Twitter, and the ABC News site and mobile phone apps. senior Washington reporter Devin Dwyer will lead the streaming coverage and will be joined ABC News' powerhouse political team. Daily newscast "On Location" will break down the most memorable moments the following morning - exclusively on Facebook Watch.


ABC News Radio will provide live coverage with correspondent Aaron Katersky anchoring from New York, joined by correspondent Karen Travers at the White House. The ABC News Radio team will provide multiple one-minute status reports four times an hour beginning at 9:00 p.m. EST. "Start Here" podcast will air a special edition on Wednesday, Jan. 9, with host Brad Mielke featuring an ABC News report from the border.

ABC NewsOne, the affiliate news service of ABC News, will provide full coverage with correspondents Kenneth Moton and Travers reporting from Washington. NewsOne provides news content and services for more than 200 ABC affiliates and international news partners.
