A remake of the 1980 original hit film FAME swings into theaters tonight, September 25. Like the original film, this interpretation will follow a talented and tenacious group of dancers, singers, actors, and artists over four years at the New York City High School of Performing Arts. Blood, sweat and tears accompany the students as they learn the fine art of balancing academia with the school's demanding arts curriculum, and their own often-precarious personal and family situations. The students' will and ambition are continuously tested as they work to thrive in an incredibly competitive atmosphere, fine-tuning their skills to enter the even more ferociously competitive realm of the professional arts.

MGM's remake of FAME was directed by Kevin Tancharoen and written by Allison Burnett

The cast includes Asher Book as Marco, Kristy Flores as Rosie, Paul Iacono as Neil, Paul McGill as Kevin, Naturi Naughton as Denise, Kay Panabaker as Jenny, Kherington Payne as Alice, Collins Pennie as Malik, Walter Perez as Victor, and Anna Maria Perez de Tagle as Joy. Their instructors include Charles S. Dutton as Alvin Dowd, Kelsey Grammer as Joel Cranston, Megan Mullally as Fran Rowan, and Bebe Neuwirth as Lynn Kraft. Debbie Allen, who played tough dance teacher Lydia Grant in 1980, returns to the cast.
