60 MINUTES Hits Four-Year Ratings High

60 MINUTES made Nielsen's Top 10 List for the third consecutive week, landing at #2 by attracting 19.63 million viewers, its largest audience in four years. It was the fifth time in seven weeks that the broadcast finished among America's 10 most-watched programs. The CBS newsmagazine also finished at #2 in households (12.1/18), according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012.

In key demographics, 60 MINUTES was a Top 5 program, ranking #2 in adults 25-54 (6.7/15) and #4 in adults 18-49 (4.9/12).

It was the second time this season that 60 MINUTES ranked #2 in viewers for the week and the fourth time the broadcast finished at #3 or higher.

During 60 MINUTES' East Coast broadcast, the program's hashtag #60Minutes and the phrase "watching 60Minutes" were worldwide trending topics on Twitter.

On Nov. 16, 2008, 60 MINUTES drew 25.1 million viewers for the first post-election interview with Barack and Michelle Obama. That broadcast finished at #1.

Sunday's program featurEd Scott Pelley's report on the elementary school massacre in Connecticut and Lesley Stahl's story on the largest marine salvage operation ever undertaken to float the wreck of the Costa Concordia.

CBS News Chairman Jeff Fager is the executive producer of 60 MINUTES, America's number-one news program.
