To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the iconic film THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL Meredith Braun, who played Belle and sang 'When Love Is Gone' in the film, has re-recorded the song as the title track of her new solo album. 'When Love Is Gone' is released today on CD, Download and Streaming.
Five years following the release of Meredith Braun's critically acclaimed debut album 'Someone Else's Story', Meredith returns with her new solo album, 'When Love Is Gone'. The title for the release comes from the Paul Williams song Meredith performed in the iconic film 'The Muppet Christmas Carol' opposite Michael Caine. Meredith's new 2017 recording of 'When Love Is Gone' marks the first time she has performed the song since recording the original version for the 1992 film soundtrack. Reflecting on 'The Muppet Christmas Carol' and 'When Love Is Gone', Meredith commented: "I had no idea when I filmed 'The Muppet Christmas Carol' that it would become such a big part of my life. It never even occurred to me when we filmed it that it would come back every Christmas. My children have grown up with it and so often I meet people who say it's their favourite film. It was an absolute honour to work with legendary composer Paul Williams who is one of loveliest people I've been lucky enough to collaborate with. I loved singing 'When Love Is Gone' in 1992 and had no idea it would become subject of so much debate after being cut from the film! It was important for me to include it in the story of my new album because it's a very clear moment of decision in the narrative of the song cycle. I'm even more delighted that my 13-year-old son Tiger Braun-White plays the cello on the new recording. It's been a joy revisiting this song, particularly as the film celebrates its 25th anniversary this year."The release of 'When Love Is Gone' begins a new chapter in Meredith Braun's performing career. As a leading West End performer since 1990, Meredith's illustrious theatre credits include originating such roles as 'Betty Schaeffer' in 'Sunset Boulevard', 'Lily' in the RSC's 'The Secret Garden' and playing both 'Eponine' in 'Les Misérables' and 'Christine' in 'The Phantom of the Opera'.
