Dallas native Max Hartman is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter but you may know him best as a stage and voice over actor. As a long time company member of Kitchen Dog Theater, his acting work has earned him Best of Dallas honors from the Dallas Observer, D Magazine, The Dallas Theater Critics Forum and others. He has also appeared in notable productions with Undermain Theater (Penelope, Shiner), Theater 3 (On The Eve), and Shakespeare Dallas (Twelfth Night) where he has served as musical composer for several productions.

As a musician he has performed and recorded with multiple bands on multiple instruments, most notably as the drummer for Home By Hovercraft and their award winning musical On The Eve. Also a film composer, his score for Barbara Davidson's "Caught in the Crossfire" helped to earn her an Emmy Award for the multimedia piece.

For this installment of the Elevator Project, An Opera House is an ideal location for an actor/singer/musician like Hartman to explore his music catalog. This special night will feature songs from his band Mur, his side project Hartman & Cole (with drummer Brant J Cole), and a special featured set of songs that he has composed for the stage and screen but has yet to perform himself.

Max will also be joined by one of his all-time favorite Texas artists and songwriters Broose Dickinson whose band Pop Poppins achieved critical and popular acclaim in Dallas during Deep Ellum's 90's heyday, and who would be a driving source of inspiration and mentor to Hartman's musical journey to come. Hartman would go on to join Broose's band Too Much TV where he would learn first-hand from his musical hero, inspiring him to form his own band Mur.

Mur would release their debut to rave reviews by the DMN, and a Best New Band nomination from The Dallas Observer prompting a move to LA where, in between shows, Hartman would moonlight as Sinatraesque Crooner Max Vontaine, earning him Best Entertainer honors from The LA Downtown News. One filmmaker (Danny Buday) was so impressed he wrote a part for Hartman to play a version himself as a moonlighting crooner in his Film "Five Star Day" which earnEd Hartman a One to Watch mention from the NY Times.

Upon returning to Dallas, Mur reformed and recently released their newest full length album "Fire Escapes" available now on most music platforms and at their website http://www.murdallas.com/

Fun Fact: After all of this, Hartman's voice is perhaps most familiar thanks to his long time day job as the voice of Domino's Pizza. A dream job that helps Max keep the lights on...so he can focus on his dream ...of living a life in music and theater. Join us on March 11th to help Max celebrate this dream becoming reality.
