Fleet Foxes: Live from the Artists Den premieres in Los Angeles on Saturday, September 30 at 6:30pm on PBS SoCal, in New York on Friday, October 6 at 11pm on THIRTEEN and nationwide on public television this fall Watch the episode trailer here. Following a six-year hiatus, Grammy-nominated Fleet Foxes returned to the stage just days before releasing their critically acclaimed third album, Crack-Up, for a special performance at the Knockdown Center, a magnificent former glass-blowing facility and door factory, in Queens, New York. Later that week Crack- Up was released to critical acclaim, with Associated Press calling it"rewarding, involving and meticulous, Crack-Up has been well worth the wait," and theNew York Times saying "Crack-Up is a defiant artistic statement, an album that dares to feel important". This Artists Den exclusive was one of the first times the band had performed these new songs live, while also looking back to such favorites as "Blue Ridge Mountains" and "Mykonos."
"It's easier to try things and feel more comfortable," guitarist and vocalist Skyler Skjelset explained of the time away. Lead singer and guitarist Robin Pecknold added, "I felt like I wanted just a broader range of experience as a person and a musician to draw from in direct and indirect ways, so it seemed like something worth being open-minded about."
Season 12 of Live from the Artists Den includes rare moments and special performances by major music talent across R&B, Pop, Country and Alternative Rock genres: John Legend, OneRepublic, Lady Antebellum, and Fleet Foxes. Together, these artists have sold more than 22 million albums worldwide, have over 57 million social media fans, and their videos have been watched over 6 billion times. Artists Den Season 12 is an incredible adventure for music fans as the season moves from a stunning church in Harlem to the mountains of Utah, to a Washington Heights historic theatre and finishes in a 19th century factory in Queens. Each artist brings their very best to these rare settings, showcasing their greatest hits and new releases on music television's favorite stage.
