Community Folk Art Center will be hosting a concert featuring dynamic rhythm and blues ensemble Lemon Elefant on November 21st at 7pm. The concert will be held as part of our highly anticipated music series, A Journey through Music of the African Diaspora (JMAD).

Lemon Elefant is a Syracuse-based blues group that fuses postmodern improvisational music and contemporary rhythms into a unique "anti-jazz" style that captivates audiences. Formed in the summer of 2010, group members Dave Solazzo and Bill Horrace have developed a large fan base in the Central New York area. They are well known for their electrifying performance at the 2011 Northeast Jazz and Wine Festival in downtown Syracuse. Lemon Elefant has worked with many notable musicians, including Marshall McDonald (Count Basie Orchestra), Jeff Brillinger (Chet Baker Trio), and Rick Montalbano (Jane Monheit Band).

Now in its third year, the one-of-a-kind series explores and celebrates the rich creativity, depth and legacy of African diasporan musical traditions played by local, regional and nationally-recognized musicians. With an opportunity to hear music from Latin to Gospel, JMAD creates a space for people to come together around a central idea, music, and listen to signature pieces by talented musicians whose individual diversity is as varied as the genres of music.

All events are open to the public, and donations are welcome to support our 40th anniversary year programming.
