2014 IBMA Emerging Artists of the Year FLATT LONESOME will appear in Cumberland County Playhouse's Adventure Theater on Sunday, November 8 at 2:30 PM. While deeply-rooted in bluegrass music's historic classics, these young artists also have an energetic flair for country sounds, progressive jams, and soul-stirring gospel music while never forsaking their traditional essence. And though they've only been playing together for a few years, they've made quite an impression. In January 2011, siblings Kelsi, Charli and Buddy Robertson teamed up with friends Dominic Illingworth, Michael Stockton, and Paul Harrigill and became Flatt Lonesome. In February of 2011, the band entered the SPBGMA International Band Championship in Nashville, TN and placed 3rd - not bad for the band's very first time on stage! To commemorate the band's first anniversary in 2012, they once again entered the SPBGMA Band Championship where they were awarded 1st place.
During their short time together as a band, Flatt Lonesome has performed at many exciting places, including the Joe Val Bluegrass Festival, California Bluegrass Association Festival, Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO, Summergrass in San Diego, CA, IBMA FanFest and The World Famous Station Inn. While performing with their friend and mentor, Barry Waldrep at Music City Roots, they received a thunderous standing ovation. The group made their Grand Ole Opry debut in August of this year. In August of 2012, Flatt Lonesome signed with Pisgah Ridge Records (a division of Mountain Home Records) and recorded their very first CD. The self-titled recording was released on January 29, 2013 and quickly became one of the highlight bluegrass recordings of the year, hitting the radio charts on more than one occasion. The band went on to sign with Mountain Home Records for their second release, Too. Two months later, they won the 2014 IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year Award in Raleigh, NC. Their third CD, Runaway Train, was released on the Mountain Home Records label on October 2, 2015.Videos
