Critically acclaimed 2017 JUNO Award 'Songwriter of the Year' nominee and Polaris Music Prize-nominated singer/songwriter Donovan Woods will release They Are Going Away (Meant Well), a four-song digital EP, on March 3. In support of the release, Woods will embark on an 11-city tour of the Northeast with Alan Doyle (Great Big Sea), which includes stops in Ann Arbor, Pittsburgh, New York, Richmond, and Boston, among others. A full list of dates is below.

Featuring four original compositions that were intended for his latest album, Hard Settled, Ain't Troubled, the songs on They Are Going Away feature a distinct sense of motion throughout the narratives. The lead track, written with Charles Kelley (Lady Antebellum) and a fan favorite at shows, "What They Mean," has Woods responding to a curious child in the backseat who is listening carefully to the car radio; "It'll Work Itself Out" shows someone who is traveling furiously to outrun problems that they can't; "Drive Through Town," which features Joey Landreth (Bros Landreth) on slide guitar, provides a backdrop for the big issues, from living up to expectations to escaping a dead-end relationship; and EP closer "Empty Rooms," written with Andrew Combs, is about moving on from a relationship-when that's not such a bad thing.

"The songs are about coping with loss, and wholesale changes, that sort of thing," offers Woods. "The title, I suppose, is trying to get at the temporariness of everything. Time speeds up when you get older, that's an observable fact. It starts to feel like you're always chasing some ineffable thing. It's why your dad often had a slightly bewildered look in his eyes."

As a songwriter, who recently signed with Warner Chappell Music, he has penned songs for Tim McGraw, Billy Currington, Charlie Worsham and Charles Kelley, who recorded "Leaving Nashville" for his solo release. The New York Times and Rolling Stone hailed the song from Kelley's album as "a beautiful song" and "stark, stunning ballad." Woods' version of the song is included on Hard Settle, Ain't Troubled.
Raised in the small city of Sarnia, Ontario, Woods now splits his time between Nashville and Toronto. His debut album, The Hold Up, was released in 2007, followed by The Widowmaker (2010) and Don't Get Too Grand in 2013, which garnered a JUNO Award nomination. His songs have also appeared on television shows including, "Degrassi: The Next Generation," ABC's "My Generation" and the Matthew Perry film, "Numb."
