Daimen Seid Releases New Single SMOTHERING
The San Francisco-based songwriter recorded the track at Miner Street Recordings ahead of his debut album, TANGLED IN THE LIGHT.
Rising indie-folk artist Daimen Seid has released his new single 'Smothering.' An emotional slow burn, the single follows behind 'Walking Blind' and 'Chrysalis Skies,' and is the third in a series leading up to the artist's first full length release.
Analyzing the insecurities associated with being in love while depressed, 'Smothering' is a deeply personal track filled with melancholy and self-awareness. At the core of the new single is the concern that the narrator is 'too difficult' to love, providing a cathartic and relatable experience for listeners who ruminate and overthink. Vocally, Daimen Seid channels the cadence of artists like Alex G or The Tallest Man On Earth – honing in their vulnerable songwriting while simultaneously putting a unique spin on it. While lyrically, there's a dash of Phoebe Bridgers present – as Daimen's dynamics and timbre often mirror the prolific artist.
With production for the single and accompanying album beginning in 2021, Daimen Seid enlisted the musical chops of the personnel at Miner Street Recordings – the same folks who worked on records from Sharon van Etten, Kurt Vile, Bedolina, Magus, and many more. Mastering for the new single can be credited to Joe Lambert (The National, Deerhunter), while production was executed by Brian McTear and Amy Morrissey (The War on Drugs, Kurt Vile).
About Daimen Seid
