Actor Mathieu Amalric Signs on for Roman Polanski's VENUS IN FUR

Deadline reports that Mathieu Amalric has joined the cast of Roman Polanski's upcoming big screen adaptation of VENUS IN FUR. The Quantum of Solace star's rep, Zelig Films, confirmed the news that the actor is currently filming in Paris. Almaric will join previously announced cast member Emmanuelle Seigner.

The film will be a French-language adaptation of David Ives' dark Broadway and off-Broadway comedy. Polanski penned the script along with Ives. Robert Benmussa and Alain Sarde will produce the fillm from Lionsgate/Summit International.

Amalric is best known internationally for his performance as the lead villain in the Bond film Quantum of Solace and for his role in The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, for which he drew critical acclaim. He also has won the Étoile d'or and the Lumière Award. The actor won a Best Director Palme d'Or for his 2010 film On Tour. He will next be seen on the big screen in Wes Anderson's upcoming The Grand Budapest Hotel.

VENUS IN FUR ran on Broadway in 2012. The acclaimed play by David Ives was directed by Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie and starred Tony Award winner Nina Arianda and Emmy Award nominee Hugh Dancy.
