Jeff Baena's THE LITTLE HOURS sold out multiple shows this weekend at New York's Landmark Sunshine and Los Angeles' Arclight, grossing $61,560. This ranks as this weekend's highest per screen average ($30,780), and also one of the top limited theatrical openings of the year so far.

THE LITTLE HOURS marks the first theatrical release from the new studio Gunpowder & Sky.

Loosely based on a section of Boccaccio's The Decameron and filmed on location in Tuscany, THE LITTLE HOURS centers on the story of a young servant fleeing from his master and taking refuge at a convent full of emotionally and sexually frustrated nuns. The all-star comedic cast is headlined by Alison Brie, Dave Franco, Kate Micucci, Aubrey Plaza, John C. Reilly and Molly Shannon. Co-stars include Fred Armisen, Jemima Kirke, Nick Offerman, Adam Pally and Lauren Weedman, among others.

THE LITTLE HOURS premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, and was produced by Aubrey Plaza (her producerial debut) alongside Liz Destro. Bow and ARROW executive produced and financed the film.

THE LITTLE HOURS received widespread PRAISE from critics with a "certified fresh" status from Rotten Tomatoes, and has drawn comparisons to the works of Mel Brooks and Monty Python. The film also benefited from savvy viral marketing including a Red Band trailer that was viewed by millions, a controversial humorous video of Aubrey Plaza smoking pot with progressive nuns, in addition to a robust traditional publicity campaign.

THE LITTLE HOURS will expand theatrically throughout the summer. The film will be on more than 30 screens next weekend and over 75 theaters in the top 20 markets by July 14th.
