Singers Needed For This Saturday's Community Sing Event

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? When you hear your favorite tune, do you or someone you know break out in song? Or do you secretly dream of singing the Hallelujah Chorus with a professional orchestra?

Well...you're in luck.

This Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Music Hall, Cincinnati May Festival Chorus invites singers of all voice types and levels in the community who love to sing to be a part of an inaugural event, Messiah: Community Sing.

Robert Porco, May Festival chorus director, will be leading the Community Chorus in an effort to unite cultures and voices in the community. Porco hopes this Saturday's Messiah: Community Sing event, encourages participants, as well as members of the broader community, to join the May Festival Community Chorus supplementing vocalists in the May Festival Chorus on May 26, 2018. Those participating in both community chorus events will join Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra under the direction of May Festival principal conductor, Juanjo Mena, for a monumental performance at the newly renovated Cincinnati Music Hall.

No auditions are necessary for the May Festival Community Chorus and there is no fee to join. Just a love of singing is required. Approximately 190 singers have responded to participate in the Community Sing event this Saturday. Of those, an estimated 121 singers have committed to joining the May 26th May Festival performance .

Deadline for registrants is January 27. Spots are still available for this Saturday's event.

While registering online, singers can choose to participate in either The Messiah Community Sing this Saturday only, the May Festival Community Choir or both.

Lunch will be provided for this Saturday's Community Sing event from 12-1:00 pm. Please register/RSVP online so we may provide adequate seating, meals, and sheet music for all.

Location: Music Hall entrance on Central Parkway via: May Festival Rehearsal Room door, Parking: Participant's responsibility. Metered or parking garage directly across from entrance on Central Parkway. Event concludes at approximately 3:00 pm
