In 'Welcome Home, Sir,' Dr. Ethan Meyer is a biochemistry professor conducting scientific research and teaching at an American academic institution. Dr. Caplan is currently a principal investigator and Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. 220 Communications Releases Debut by 16 Year Old HALEY'S COMET

Cleveland, OH author/illustrator Brett T. Brown wrote his first story at the age of 10. Now 16 he has channeled that talent to create his fiction debut 'Haley's Comet' (220 Publishing). A fantasy adventure with a touch of humor, 'Haley's Comet' showcases Brown's unique writing talent, touching on many themes teens and pre-teens experience, including moving to a new neighborhood, relationships with parents and siblings and even bullying. Brown discussed his reasoning behind the plot for 'Haley's Comet,' 'I put Haley in situations that some people might find hardening, like when her mom is kidnapped by aliens. I saw it as a situation in which I didn't have my mom around, and how disoriented I would become if something ever happened to her. Some of the book is fictional, while some parts directly or partially relate to my life. It's almost like a biography of someone else, but you feel like you've lived part of their life.' The wise beyond his years author offers advice to other budding writers. 'I know a lot of kids who are excellent in my view at sports, writing, art, but not enough confidence. When I wrote my first book, my mom noticed. She was immediately impressed, and she always urged me to keep writing. Since middle school, I've had the pleasure of having English teachers who have seen my writing, and they've acknowledged it and encourage me to keep writing. If you want to write, go for it! Don't just blend into the background, spread the word. There are too many good young writers in the world that haven't been discovered. Do everything you can do to get your work out there. In August 2008, Book Author and Talk Radio Host Alan Roger Currie was invited to be a dating and relationships expert on the 'Relationships 101' segment of the national morning television talk show, 'The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet' ('Mike and Juliet,' which previously aired on the FOX Network, was canceled in June 2009). Currie said he was excited to express some thoughts and opinions related to today's dating scene in front of a national television audience, but he was disappointed that he was never asked a question related to his popular self-help book for single heterosexual men entitled, 'Mode One: Let the Women Know What You're REALLY Thinking.' 'I thought I would be asked at least one question related to the contents of my 'Mode One' book, but I guess that was not in the plans of the show's producers,' said Currie, who in addition to being a book author and public speaker, is also a professional dating coach and advisor as well as the Host of a popular talk radio show on the BlogTalkRadio Internet Radio Network entitled, 'Upfront & Straightforward with Alan Roger Currie' This weekend, Currie will once again be in Manhattan, but this time he will not be speaking in front of a national television audience. Instead, he will be the headline speaker for a weekend conference for single men known as 'The Direct Dating Summit' (DDS). The DDS has sponsored weekend conferences in Berlin (Germany), Las Vegas, London (England), and Melbourne (Australia). The weekend conference is designed to help single heterosexual men improve upon the weaknesses in their interpersonal communication skills with women, and gain the opportunity to interact with a number of different professional dating coaches, attraction and seduction gurus, personal stylists and lifestyle coaches, and other men's self-improvement speakers. Currie's book, 'Mode One,' is designed to help men overcome their fear of being rejected by women and their fear of receiving harsh criticisms and insults for letting women know what is really on their mind. 'The vast majority of single men in society are extremely dishonest and disingenuous with women in their first few conversations with them. The most prominent thoughts on most men's minds with women is having sex with them, but many men feel that if they mention anything to do with sex in their first conversation with a woman, that they will be perceived as 'rude' or 'disrespectful.' During the summer of 2003, author Sandy Maroney learned how to channel by practicing exercises provided by Sanaya Roman and Duane Packer in their book 'Opening to Channel.' 'With dedication and belief in one's ability, a person can learn to connect with a spirit guide, one's higher self, and other beings,' says Maroney. Maroney's meditations led her to alternative dimensions and encounters with enlightened beings. The locations of these episodes were vastly varied, but home was a Tuscan village and its environs, depicted in scenic illustrations throughout the book. Brooklyn lawmaker Dov Hinkind protested the presence of adult literature in Brooklyn Public Library, arguing that minors would have access to materials that were not age appropriate. As shown in this ABC Eyewitness News clip on July 10th, Hinkind had received several complaints from his largely Orthodox Jewish constituency about the ready accessibility of adult titles in several branches of the Brooklyn libraries. Interestingly, the titles he chose to hold up as examples were all LGBT, including Ily Goyanes's Girls Who Score, Richard Labonte's Best Gay Erotica series, and Kathleen Warnock's Best Lesbian Erotica series. Whether or not this was an intentional choice, it seems to reveal an underlying concern about children being exposed to specifically gay and lesbian content. Hinkind wants these and other titles moved behind the counter at libraries.
