Set in 1972, this timeless, romantic drama centers on Don Baker, a young blind man who has just struck out on his own despite the objections of his over-protective mother. He is renting a shabby apartment in NYC to pursue his dream of becoming a song writer and soon becomes involved with his kooky, sexy neighbor, Jill Tanner - an aspiring actress. When Don's mother meets Jill, her controlling instincts go into overdrive. Laced with witty banter and timeless themes of love, freedom and acceptance, Butterflies Are Free is funny, warm and surprisingly touching.
