Broadway Stars, The Lion King Adrienne Walker and Stephen Carlile to support Childhood Cancer at A Free Bird's Gala 2018

 

A Free Bird Organization has become known for its tireless dedication to helping pediatric cancer patients pursue their passion for the arts. In recent years, support for this incredible cause has grown tremendously, and we are proud to announce our fourth annual Gala, Light, where we are also celebrating our 10 yr anniversary. The Gala will be held on November 15, 2018, at the fabulous Bellozino at Roosevelt Avenue, Jackson Heights, NY 11372. There will be a reception at 6 PM, food and drinks included, followed by the program at 8 PM

The Gala will feature prime stars Adrienne Walker, who played “Nala” and Stephen Carlile, who played “Scar” in The Lion King on Broadway, along with a special speech from Mike Woods, cancer survivor (News Anchor at Fox 5 N.Y). This event is held to not only showcase incredible talents and raise money for the organization but to provide each child enrolled in our program the best possible opportunities to pursue their chosen art form (whether it be art, music, acting, singing or sports) while they battle cancer.

Our past gala has been graced by incredible performers like Jelani Alladin from Frozen on Broadway, and Str8jacket from America’s Got Talent, Golden Buzzer candidate from America's Got Talent, Calysta Bevier; Broadway stars Daisy Hobbs from Aladdin; and Nina Hennessey from shows like Les Miserables, Cats, and Bye Bye Birdie! We have obtained various press over the years, from news outlets such as Fox 5, Pix11 News, NY1, Broadwayworld.com, News 12 Brooklyn, Closer Magazine, Brooklyn Daily.

As a 100% volunteer-based 501(c)(3) non-profit arts education organization dedicated to helping children with cancer, we have many programs such as Dream Big, Take Flight and Fly Free where children are able to explore many different types of art forms. A Free Bird has also been supported by influential brands such as Google, Amazon, Rite Aid, Chipotle, Macy’s, Barnes and Noble amongst many others, and was recognized by the Department of Education and Department of Cultural Affairs, and honored by Mayor Bill De Blasio at the NYC Mayoral Recognition Award.
