Oedipus Schmoedipus is an ambitious epic compiled of all the death scenes from 200 plays of the Western canon. Dialogue, scenes, characters and snippets from Shakespeare, Brecht, Shaw and others all make their way on stage in this crazy theatrical quilt stitched together by the irrepressible POST.
These 200 texts are dismembered, catalogued and re-ordered; images wilfully deconstructed, speeches cut into individual words. Like fastidious decoupage artists or clever scrap-bookers, post recompile these existing words to form something new; brought to life Frankenstein-style as a collective manifesto on death.
This is a second stage work-in-development showing of Oedipus Schmoedipus, in which POST will discuss their gargantuan research process and reveal some of their progress so far. A feedback session will follow each performance.
