BSO Assistant Conductors Samy Rachid and Anna Handler share the podium in a program featuring three modern compositions. Yo-Yo Ma joins Grammy-winning vocalist Arooj Aftab and the BUTI Chorus in Tavener's Mahámátar; cellist Karen Ouzounian joins Iranian-American composer and kamancheh player Kayhan Kalhor in his Venus in the Mirror; and BSO cellist Christine Lee is the soloist in Osvaldo Golijov's Azul, a BSO commission from 2006. An open rehearsal takes place on August 8 at 10:30 a.m.
