Maiden Phoenix Theatre Company is proud to present its summer production, William Shakespeare’s The Winters Tale, directed by Sarah Gazdowicz. In this re-imagining of a Shakespearean classic, The Winter’s Tale shines a light on jealousy, betrayal, and forgiveness. Boasting some of the most intelligent and engaging women in Shakespeare’s canon, this tale invites us to re-examine our own modern day truths and relationships.
This production is presented with an all-female cast, and aims to redefine modern views on domestic violence and family relations. It is also produced as a free outdoor event, in Nathan Tufts Park in Somerville, with the support of local Somerville businesses. The audience will be repositioned between acts.
The incredible cast includes Sarah Mass, Allison Gilman, April Singley, Leilani Ricardo, Caroline Markham, Kamela Dolinova, Mara Elisa Palma, Cassandra Meyer, Gail Shalan, and Juliet Bowler.
The brilliant design crew includes Julie Streeter (Production Manager), Elizabeth Ramirez (Stage Manager), Norma Heller (Costume Designer), Kat Nakaji (Set/Props Designer), Ben Leiberson (Lighting Designer/ME), Kiki Samko (Choreography), and Jeff Butcher (Sound/Musical Director).
