Handel and Haydn Society opens its 212th season with Handel's L'Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato, led by Artistic Director Jonathan Cohen with the period instrument orchestra and chorus. The work features guest soloists soprano Joélle Harvey, tenor Paul Appleby, and bass-baritone Michael Sumuel, along with new spoken word by Massachusetts Poet Laureate Regie Gibson. Based on companion poems by John Milton, the piece explores the joyful extrovert, the contemplative introvert, and a moderate approach to life. These performances mark the first with Lecolion Washington, Jr. as H+H's new President and CEO.
