Double Feature: Ed Wood & Plan 9 from Outer Space at Coolidge Corner Theatre

This double feature pairs Tim Burton's Ed Wood with Ed Wood's own Plan 9 from Outer Space, tracing the story of one of Hollywood's most infamous outsider filmmakers from his biography to his most notorious work. Ed Wood, starring Johnny Depp in the title role, follows the passionate but hapless director whose ambition consistently outpaced his resources and technical skill. Plan 9 from Outer Space, the 1957 science fiction film Wood himself directed, stands as a testament to that same relentless drive. Together, the films form a portrait of cult filmmaking at its most earnest and chaotic.
