The Boston Symphony Chamber Players (BSCP), an ensemble made up of the BSO's first-chair string and wind players, makes its first-ever visit to Puerto Rico to perform at the Casals Festival's 70th anniversary, which also marks the 150th anniversary of Pablo Casals' birth. The May 31 program at Pablo Casals Symphony Hall features Samuel Barber's Summer Music for wind quintet, Carlos Simon's Gardner Suite, and Antonín Dvořák's String Quartet No. 2 in G, performed by principals including Nathan Cole, Lorna McGhee, Richard Sebring, Steven Ansell, Blaise Déjardin, John Ferrillo, William R. Hudgins, Haldan Martinson, Caleb Quillen, and Richard Svoboda. Cole, McGhee, and Sebring will also lead master classes with students from Escuelas Libres de Música and the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico during their visit.
