Bach + Telemann at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall

Boston's Handel and Haydn Society makes its Carnegie Hall debut with Bach + Telemann, led by Artistic Director Jonathan Cohen. The program features soprano Robin Johannsen, countertenor Christopher Lowrey, tenor Guy Cutting, and bass-baritone Dingle Yardell performing three Baroque funeral cantatas by Bach and Telemann alongside Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 6, all performed on period instruments. The cantatas explore themes of human mortality and hope through emotionally resonant vocal writing, while the Brandenburg Concerto, featuring violas, cellos, and viola da gambas in place of violin, showcases the distinctive timbres of the Baroque era.
