The BLUES & SOUL series returns to Postunderground with an evening of blues, soul, jazz, and original compositions emphasizing musicianship, spontaneity, and audience connection. The MWALIM TRIO features Mwalim on guitar, keys, and vocals, ZYG 808 on drums, and Richard Johnson on bass, delivering a fluid sound built on groove, improvisation, and storytelling. Mwalim is a multi-award-winning composer, vocalist, and producer, three-time New England Urban Music Award winner for jazz, and co-founder and music director of The GroovaLottos, the six-time Grammy-nominated soul-funk collective. The performance moves between reinterpretations of classic material and original compositions shaped in real time through audience interaction and improvisational direction.
