Barrington Stage Company presents Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya, directed by BSC Artistic Director Julianne Boyd, playing for a three-week run at Barrington Stage (30 Union Street) from August 9 - 26, opening August 12 at 5PM.

"In a translation by Paul Schmidt, Chekhov's masterpiece, set in turn-of-the century Russia, explores the unfulfilled hopes and unrequited love that surface when an aging professor and his beautiful young wife return home to his country estate," explain press notes, "Filled with passion, both comic and tragic, Uncle Vanya is an exquisite exploration of the human condition."

The cast includes Jack Gilpin as Vanya, Keira Naughton as Sonya, Heidi Armbruster as Yelena, Mark Montgomery as Astrov, Patricia Conolly as Marina, Kenneth Tigar as the Professor, Alaina Warren Zachary as Maria and Robert Grossman as Telegin.  Designed by Karl Eigsti (sets), Elizabeth Flauto (costumes), Scott Pinkney (lighting) and Matt Nielson (sound).

Performances are Tuesdays & Wednesdays at 7PM; Thursdays - Saturdays at 8PM; Fridays at 2PM; and Sundays at 5PM.  There is an added Wednesday matinee at 2PM on August 1.
