Yeah I'm bummed that it's closing a week early. And I sure as hell better be getting a refund for the 18th. Okay, I know I will.
And actually, it closing a week early worked to my advantage. I actually got a better seat. :) Well, only in the center of the last 3 rows of the balcony, vs. the left side of that section.

Maybe David Hyde Pierce? :) Now that is total wishful thinking. And at this point, I don't want the closing to move to the 4th because there is only a 2pm show that day. But, in this case, I would gladly take off from work. :)

Rats. Got a slightly worse seat for the 11th than I had for the 18th. What's more annoying is I had the chance to do something else on the 18th and passed it up to see Spamalot.
I have the hotel booked at a non-refundable discount rate. I bought airplane tickets (at, guess what, a nonrefundable discount rate) for my friend so she could come up from Florida to see the show with me. I bought tickets for Row C, 101 and 102 and they damn well better refund the money. And of COURSE we won't be able to get seats that good for January 11th. Of course.
Hoooo boy I am so pissed off. Updated On: 11/22/08 at 02:18 AM
They have to refund your money for the 18th since there is no longer a show that day. Otherwise, it's robbery.

This will teach me to never buy at non-refundable rates ever again. To change each ticket (to and fro) I have to pay $90 all together (the price of one of the tickets) and forget about the hotel room, I have to just book a whole new one.
Ohhh, if I ever get my hands on whoever made this decision...
I'm sorry for the cast and crew that this is closing a week early. And I'm sorry for myself that I won't be using my ticket to see it on the 18th. It's a holiday weekend, so I could make the trip. Can't do it on the 11th. I would have thought the combination of advance sales to Spam and Python fans for the 18th and a holiday weekend making tourist sales more likely would have made keeping it open that last week financially viable. Any reason to think the Shubert decided they'd need the space a week early to get ready for Blithe Spirit?
Honestly, I was thinking maybe they moved it up a week to possibly not compete with Spring Awakening's closing. Both happened to be the same day, at the same time. I don't know if that is a legit reason though. Now, if it got moved up to the 4th, it would be competing with Hairspray and 13, because there is no 7pm show that night. So hopefully it stays like this, and nothing else happens.
And now I am patiently waiting for telecharge to send me something about getting a refund. I love how they prematurely did it for Xanadu, which caused posts here to get deleted because it wasn't announced yet, but I still have yet to hear about it for Spamalot.

I actually booked OTHER tickets around this date. My entire family and one friend would see Shrek at 3PM, then we'd split and they'd see Mamma Mia, and we'd see Spamalot. I'd be less angrier if they moved UP the closing than this. NOW, I have to either sell the great seats I got for Mamma Mia, buy tickets for that, making my parents believe that all my presents for them are really just for me, or sit through a show I've already seen (Or see grease). Which would be the best (and cheapest?): Avenue Q Chicago Grease In the Heights or Mamma Mia? (I'd buy box seats)
I love this show----will miss it. I especially loved the original cast with David Hyde P., Tim Curry, Christian B., Hank A and Michael McGrath., but I still enjoyed it so much afterward. Saw it many times-----too bad.
I just wanted to know those of you whom had tickets on the original closing night - were/are they honored for the new closing date? How did you go about that?
I just bought a new ticket last night, as I just assumed that they would tell me all performances would be cancelled after the 11th. If that wasn't the way to go, oh well. I will just call and get a refund or see if instead of charging my credit card a second time, they can just switch the ticket seat and date.
Edit-Still no email about this from telecharge, so if I do not get any notification come Monday or Tuesday even, I will call them.

Just hope that there isn't another change.
OK, here's an idea -- turn it into a positive. Keep the hotel room and buy a NEW flight for the new date, keeping the original plans as a "bonus" trip with a different show to see. The way I see it, you lose only $90 over the changes you are "forced" into and get two days with your friend. For that matter, you could invite a different Florida-friend for the second get-away.
