BroadwaySecrets reckons Heidi will be Ursula-ing it up come January. I know, I know, the source sucks, but still... some rumours come from somewhere, right?
She was scheduled to go on for what were Sherie Rene Scott's first absences, but the injury that eventually forced her to leave the show earlier than planned prevented her from doing so.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
I also saw the Heidi/Ursula secret on BroadwaySecrets.
Is there anyone out there insider-y enough to know if there's any truth to this? Because it would definitely make my day, if not my life. That woman deserves to be rocking it on the Broadway right now, and this would be awesome.
That would be great if it was true. And I have a feeling it is.
And this is random, but since we were talking about BroadwaySecrets: I think I actually saw the person dressed as "original musical."

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...
"Every day has the potential to be the greatest day of your life." - Lin-Manuel Miranda
"And when Idina Menzel is singing, I'm always slightly worried that her teeth are going to jump out of her mouth and chase me." - Schmerg_the_Impaler
When I spoke to Heidi after the third to last [tos], she mentioned there was "something big in the works that I'm not allowed to talk about" so this certainly fits into that. I might hate her for making me go see that show again though.
"This table, he is over one hundred years old. If I could, I would take an old gramophone needle and run it along the surface of the wood. To hear the music of the voices. All that was said." - Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife
I haven't seen it yet. I was waiting for her to go on as Ursula and then she left.

Well, I guess I'll wait and see it with her! I like Scott, but I've heard she's just going through the motions now, and I love Heidi and her fierce voice!
I've seen Cicily and Sherie in the role, Cicily was amazing, Sherie seemed so tired and bored. I would love to see Heidi in the role!

As much as I would LOVE for Heidi to land another role on Broadway, I would be upset if it was Ursula because then I would have too see it again, and the only reason I ever saw it was because of Sherie Rene Scott...so I hope another show...
I podcasted Heidi the weekend title of show opened and she said she never went on as Ursula. You can listed to her talk aboiut her Little Mermaid experience here. Heidi Blinkenstaff Podcast at [title of show]
I don't know what's up with her. From most of the stuff I've seen, she's been pretty perfect for the role, but I have seen her in one of those "bleh" moods once. I just don't really understand how you can be bored with the Ursula character.

This kind of harkens back to that line in [title of show] about Heidi auditioning for the replacement/ensemble/understudy/offstage singer/dance captain/assistant stage manager track at Mamma Mia but not getting the part because some other girl fit in the existing costumes.
"I didn't get it...[wah-waaah.] Yeah, we sang, danced, read, sang again...they narrowed it down to three of us. And then they measured us, and I didn't fit the existing costumes so another girl got the job. And can I tell you? The girl who did get the job: gorgeous, stunning, but she sang a little something like this..."
But get this: Heidi already has Ursula costumes made for her! She fits the costumes!
