That was a pretty good interpretation of "As If We Never Said Goodbye". At the onset, I was expecting to hear her sing it in German. I also love my German Cast Recording with Helen Schneider. from RC in Austin, Texas
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
I believe that late this year or early next year they are doing a Scandinavian "Sunset Boulevard" tour. It lists both Simone Kleinsma and Pia Dowues as Norma, so I'm guessing they are alternating the role (as opposed to the Dutch "Chicago" where Simone was Roxie and Pia was Velma).
I hope that there is a cast recording released of this.
I know that the tour was starting in the Netherlands, but I thought I read somewhere that they were touring through some Scandinavian countries also (which would be a little weird if it is still sung in Dutch). Maybe I was on crack at the time...
And they only touring in the Netherlands.. I don't see why they would tour in Scandinvian countries :-p
Both Pia and Simone are going to play the part. Simone is going to start and Pia will finisch it. Simone sings it beautyful, but I'm courious to hear Pia's version
The Värmlandsoperan produce wonderful musicals lately the Wedding singer was tremendous fun and had great actors! I am really curious what they will make of Sunset, the european tour of sunset will have 2 leading ladies in Simone Kleisma & Pia Dowes. Simone Kleinsma does some amazing job not sure about her accent though Found another clip of her performing https://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=sPLM1exJZ5A
The Sunset Boulevard production that is connected to the first youtube vid with Simone Kleinsma (and Pia Douwes) is purely a dutch tour, NOT a European tour. I haven't heard about any European tour. The Dutch production might go to Belgium at the end of the tour, but that's not sure for now.
Ok thank you Lance2 for that correction, i must have been mistaken then.Perhaps there is gonna be another European tour then? I keep watching terrific stuff on the youtube site about a show called Ahoy musicals can you or anyone else give me some info on that? I can't get information about it whatsoever. The 2nd clip from Sunset i added is from that show.
I, as well, am ready for a revival. I just put a bunch of the songs from the OLC onto my ipod and can't stop listening to it. It's got to be ALW most melodious score.
Ahoy is concerthall in Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
Musicals in Ahoy is said to be the biggest musical concert in the world. I don't know if it's true but the production used it as a tagline for the first edition in 2002. They said it was so big that they could only do a concert like this once every five to ten years. It's now 2008 and we've had Musicals in Ahoy '02, Musicals in Ahoy '04 and Musicals in Ahoy'06. The next edition will be next year, 2009.
The first edition was still the best and the performance took over 3 hours. It was 'best of show' of the previous decade. Although Steve Balsamo's performance of Gethsemane was unbelievable.
They try to get an international star every time. Vanessa Williams was here in 2006. I have no idea who will starr in 2009.
Does anyone know how to put more than 1 picture in a post?
