I was sitting in class today and almost started crying. Even on an iPod this show is so affecting.

The mother in Passing Strange.
I can't reveal my sources, but apparently it's a done deal. She's been taking some new singing lessons that allows one to be audible with frightening amplification. She has asked Stew and Heidi to give her one new number in each act, put didn't approve of any of them, so, like a star from a 20s musical, she's bringing in some old material with some slightly rewritten lyrics to better fit the show.
I guess I just looked at your review as negative because even though you had 7 positives and only 1 negative, that was a HUGE negative... liking the staging, the lighting, the actors is nothing compared to not liking about a third of the show itself (IMO, anyway).
Part of Come Down Now (when Rebecca Jones starts singing) seems much slower than in the original version posted on the website -- is the song that slow in the show? I seem to remember it being more at the pace of the original version.
Also, on Amazon.com, they have a 30-second snippet of the original version of Come Down Now (it's on the Joys & Concerns album). It's very interesting to hear the Joys & Concerns version -- I like the Passing Strange version much better. I think the song is better suited for a woman's voice, and the lyrics are different -- the Joys & Concerns version goes, "So come down now/Remove your bandage/So I can see your damage/More than the law allows."
"What was the name of that cheese that I like?"
"you can't run away forever...but there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start"
"well I hope and I pray, that maybe someday, you'll walk in the room with my heart"
