Gypsy or In The Heights?

So, me and my girlfriend are going to NYC for the 29th and the 30th and we are going to see Cat on A Hot Tin Roof on the 29th but we are not sure if we should see Gypsy or In The Heights on Friday night. I want to see In The Heights, because it sounds and looks awesome but my girlfriend wants to see Patti(her favorite actress) play mamarose (one of herfavorite characters). I was planning on just going to the TKTS booth and letting them decide but what if both shows are there? So what does everybody think?
And BTW, we already saw Patti in Sweeney Todd. Does anybody know how long Patti will be in Gypsy?

I say Gypsy. I would expect her to be there at least a year.

I absolutely love both but I wold go with In The Heights. Patti will be there for many 1 year 1 and half. I don't know. TKTS does not list In The Heights. But In The Heights ha a lottery and Gypsy has very cheap partial view in the orchestra section and they are perfect for 27 bucks!

Why don't you go and see Heights and your girlfriend go and see Gypsy?

*shrug* I don't know, I've just never understood why people don't go and see what they want to see, even if it means going alone to the theatre or whatever, instead of trying to figure out how to take someone else to a show that person doesn't want to see (or, how to avoid being taken to a show you don't want to see.)

I don't think I can help make your decision since I've seen both and don't think you can go wrong either way. But on thing to note is that I haven't seen much of In the Heights on the TKTS boards (every time I am in the city and look it isn't listed). So if you're depending on that you might end up seeing Gypsy since it's on there a lot.

Hope things work out and have fun at whichever show you choose!

ps: sorry, forgot to include this, the link to what was on TKTS last week, in case you don't have it. Doesn't mean anything's guaranteed for your dates of course, but it gives you an idea of what has and hasn't been up there-

Well Anakela, thanks for the link I actually saw that they had both shows at different times last week, but with the tony nominations and it being a friday night neither one of them might be available when we go. And we don't want to go seperately because it's a whole romantic weekend thing that she planned for my birthday(the 30th) so I know she would never want to seperate, and I really hate going to shows by myself.

And thanks for the other ticketing options but its really not a money thing for me its more like if we can't agree we just go to tkts because then are options are limited, thats how we ended up seeing Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and that ended up being one of our faves. I really want to see In The Heights though.

So whine that it's your birthday and you should get what you want. Honestly...is it that hard? *sarcasm*

I agree with jordangirl- if it's your birthday you should get to choose. Then you come back to NYC for her birthday to see Gypsy. :)

In The Heights

Apples and oranges... The two are so different, so I won't stear you.
As for deals, go to broadwaybox.com. If they're nor listed there, odds are that they won't be on tkts either on a Friday night in June.

In the Heights - an amazing show, all the way through. It's your birthday, I would do what I wanted.

Ive seen both, and though ITH is a fun upbeat time, Gypsy with this cast is truly phenomenal

Go see In The Heights. The next time Gypsy is done on Broadway, there will be someone better playing Rose.
